Reason for not attending school age 6-17 in 2021 (percentage)
The question on reasons for not attending school was asked only about persons below 18 years who were not attending school. Of this group in 2021, about 30 percent of women and 25 percent of men answered that they did not attend school because they had to work to contribute to household income. This first indicating reason was lower in 2021 than in 2019/20 for both women and men. The second most common reason they cited was that they don’t want to study, at 13 percent of women and 19 percent of men.
