U.S. Tariff Rates to ASEAN Countries
As of July 31, 2025, the United States implemented a new set of reciprocal tariff rates on imports from ASEAN member states, following President Trump’s trade directive aimed at reducing the U.S. trade deficit. These tariffs varied by country and were based on bilateral trade imbalances and negotiation outcomes. Countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines successfully reached partial trade agreements with the U.S., resulting in moderate tariff rates of 19%–20%. In contrast, Laos and Myanmar, which lacked negotiated arrangements, faced maximum rates of 40%, reflecting their limited trade concessions. Brunei was assigned a 25% rate, while Cambodia received 19% under a separate designation. Singapore, which maintained a U.S. trade surplus, was subject only to the baseline 10% tariff.
