List of Geographical Areas of the Kingdom of Cambodia 2023

Cambodia’s geographical name list, first compiled in 1994 and published in 2009 with a second edition in 2019, reflects the country’s significant progress over the past four decades. Rapid development across national defense, the economy, and culture has improved social conditions and livelihoods, while changes in land management, urbanization, and administrative geography have created the need for an updated third edition in 2023. This latest edition serves as a unified national reference for multiple sectors, including economic, social, cultural, and administrative functions, particularly land registration and allocation. It symbolizes the enduring benefits of peace as a foundation for sustainable national development. The list standardizes geographical names in Khmer and includes Latin transliterations based on the Romanized System for Khmer to support international use. To strengthen consistency, the Royal Government has established a National Commission for Geographical Names to develop a unified national standard. This initiative aims to ensure consistency in geographical naming across Cambodia in both Khmer and Latin forms. This pdf was signed in Phnom Penh on October 25th, 2023, by H.E.
