National Mine Action Strategy 2018​ to 2025

This strategy sets out Cambodia’s national framework for mine action from 2018 to 2025. It addresses the remaining threats from landmines, cluster munitions, and explosive remnants of war left by decades of conflict. The document explains Cambodia’s mine contamination context, the impact on people, livelihoods, agriculture, infrastructure, and socio-economic development, and the progress made since humanitarian mine action began in 1992. It states that by 2016 Cambodia had released over 1.54 billion square meters of land and destroyed more than 1 million anti-personnel mines, 24,251 anti-tank mines, and over 2.66 million explosive remnants of war. The strategy defines Cambodia’s vision to become mine-free by 2025, reduce explosive remnants of war risks to a minimum, support victims and affected communities, strengthen national capacity, and ensure quality management, gender mainstreaming, environmental protection, and sustainable post-2025 mine action.
